August 9, 2009 The development of genetically engineered rice alone will not address the looming rice crisis in the face of the global economic crisis and impacts of climate change. Instead of developing genetically engineered rice, focus should also be given on formulation of solutions based on the real problems that beset the country’s rice economy, Oscar Zamora, a professor of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB) College of Agriculture in Laguna stressed.
