From the Ground Up: Developing organic communities

Sustainable agriculture technologies and organic fertilizer production technologies was shared to at least 600 farmers in seven rice producing cities/municipalities across the country under the OFSP Phase 1. Partnerships were also forged among local government units, non-government organizations, local farmers’ organizations, DA units and the private sector for collective initiatives promoting sustainable agriculture at the local level.

Our Infotext (SMS) Hotline will provide instant answers to queries on organic farming and requests for materials. Through mobile messaging, we will inform farmers, LGUs, NGOs, POs, and other advocates about the latest activities, news, developments and other updates on organic agrixulture.

Luzon LGUs spearhead organic farming PDF Print E-mail

RECOGNIZING the critical role as frontliners in agricultural development, 10 local government units (LGUs) in Luzon has formally forged ties to promote organic agriculture and signed a declaration supporting a government program that promotes the shift from conventional farming to organic farming.

Led by Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza, representatives from the various LGUs signed the declaration during the LGU Caucus for Sustainable Agriculture in Quezon City.

Braganza said the declaration binds the participating LGUs in promoting sustainable agriculture, starting with organic farming particularly in the production of the country’s staple food and vegetables. Read more here.
