From the Ground Up: Developing organic communities

Sustainable agriculture technologies and organic fertilizer production technologies was shared to at least 600 farmers in seven rice producing cities/municipalities across the country under the OFSP Phase 1. Partnerships were also forged among local government units, non-government organizations, local farmers’ organizations, DA units and the private sector for collective initiatives promoting sustainable agriculture at the local level.

Organic farming will make rice cheaper, says group

The price of rice may eventually go down, with farmers benefiting from lower production costs as they start to produce their own organic fertilizer, Go Organic! Philippines said.

While organically-produced agricultural products and byproducts cost more, Efren Moncupa, lead convenor of the group said the price of organically-produced agriculture products should be lower than those produced using inorganic fertilizer.Read more here.
