From the Ground Up: Developing organic communities

Sustainable agriculture technologies and organic fertilizer production technologies was shared to at least 600 farmers in seven rice producing cities/municipalities across the country under the OFSP Phase 1. Partnerships were also forged among local government units, non-government organizations, local farmers’ organizations, DA units and the private sector for collective initiatives promoting sustainable agriculture at the local level.

*Features an organic vegetable producers on a small and large scale perspective, which covers the “Pakbet Farms” on part of the Alaminos City Government’s “Agrivolution” Program. Ms. Josielyn Velonza proprietor of the Maawi Farms explains her experience as an organic producer and how her farm came up to be a large scale supplier to top class hotels in manila. Mr. Vicente Ison however explains the various prospects for small scale organic farmers in supplying local markets and how the city government supports local organic production and trading. Also, Engr. Ismael Najera and Ms. Grace Ravarra takes the Go Organic Team to the ocal Materials Recovery Facility and how contributes to the local production of organic fertilizers.
